Leadership Victoria
Invite Your Friends and Make A Real Difference
Volunteer management pessimists talk about the decline of volunteering in our society, but what if that isn't the whole story? While traditional community organizations are experiencing a decline in signed-up members, people are still volunteering their time and making a difference in their community. How do you, as a community organizer, tap into people's enthusiasm and community spirit?
Leanna Hill, Manager of Community Learning and Development at Volunteer Victoria, works with volunteers and the organizations who depend on them every day. In the workshop Engaging Volunteers in Community Work, part of the Leading in Community series presented by Leadership Victoria, Leanna will facilitate a session where participants will learn from the experts and from each other.
This session is all about attracting and maintaining high quality volunteers, from recruitment to recognition.
After this workshop, participants will understand how to:
Identify and reach out to likely volunteer candidates
Effectively garner interest in their organization and move people to action
Apply a framework of volunteer management best practices
Identify next steps for building a sustainable volunteer team
