Mark Crocker
Introducing our new Chair!
We are excited to recognize the assumption of board chair duties by Bryan Mavrow, following the completion of six successful years of service from our outgoing chair, Curtis Smith.
Bryan is an accomplished business leader with a strong commitment to raising up communities. As a member of First West Credit Union's executive team (which operates Island Savings locally) , Bryan was accountable for the credit union's community giving activities on Vancouver Island, the Fraser Valley, and the Thompson Okanagan region, overseeing the contribution of tens of millions of dollars for community causes, and tens of thousands of staff volunteer hours.
Bryan believes growing resilient and resourceful communities can be greatly strengthened by building strong leaders. With his past experience in the area of basic food support through Foodbanks BC, Lifecycles, and emergency shelters, he knows we have to evolve from these critically important services to address societal challenges through strategic leadership. When asked why he wanted to be part of Leadership Victoria, he expressed his passion for community leadership.
"I'm convinced that Leadership Victoria has the ways and means to develop local leaders equipped to grow our communities in powerful ways. We can inspire people to take on the challenges of transforming where we live, making it a better place for all of us."
With the successful delivery of Leadership Victoria's 2020-21 Community Leadership Development program during a very challenging year, Bryan joins a focused and committed board and volunteers to begin a new Fall program, as well as the annual Victoria Community Leadership Awards scheduled to occur in the Fall. If you would like to connect with Bryan to understand more about Leadership Victoria, or consider a volunteer position on the board of directors, contact him at chair@leadershipvictoria.ca
Welcome Bryan!
