Kristy Brugman

Kathy Caveney

Although born in Toronto, Kristy spent most of her life in the Netherlands. With a degree in Art Therapy, she works at the Therapeutic Recreation Department at Beacon Hill Villa. She has always been passionate about promoting the value of arts in the healthcare setting.


Holding an MBA degree (York University), a BA (Queen’s University) and certificate of Professional Management Skills & Human Resource Management (Royal Roads), Kathy is an HR Professional. She works as the HR & Organizational Development Coordinator at BC Oil & Gas Commission.

Wendy Dunn

Carrie Everett

Wendy began working at CRD in 1990. As the Environmental Science Officer, she coordinates programs which divert waste from the landfill. During her off time, she enjoys volunteering with her children’s activities, as well as spending time with family, camping, and gardening.

Carrie grew up in Campbell River before moving to Victoria in 1998, to complete a BA with a major in Women’s Studies. Since 2010, she has worked as a coordinator for the Career Mentoring & Volunteer Program at Bridges for Women Society. She enjoys the outdoors and practicing Yoga.

Brad Finerty

Caroline Herbet

Brad completed a two-week co-operative in Bologna, Italy, where he learned about the co-operative movement driving the Italian economy. Raised in Victoria, he has worked with the Vancity Credit Union in various roles, including Branch Manager.

With a slight English accent, it is surprising Caroline has lived in Canada for 40+ years. Her work in the community includes Coordinator at the Saanich Volunteer Services Society among numerous non-profit boards. She also works as a professional make-up artist and aesthetician.

Deb Hopkins

Christine Jack


Working in the Finance Department of the District of Saanich, Deb has spent over 15 years working in local government. She holds a double major in English & French and a Master of Arts in Professional Communication. As an avid cyclist & coach, she coaches training sessions for women new to cycling.

Christine graduated from UVIC with a degree in General Management, Asian studies, and humanities. She started her career at Coast Capital Savings. She currently works at Worldsource Financial Management as Mutual Fund Representative.

Mary Kelly

Born in Victoria and raised in Vancouver, Mary moved back to the island and pursued a certificate in Early Childhood Care & Education (Camosun), later receiving a diploma in infant/toddler specialization. She is a supervisor at UVIC Child Care Services and always loves to engage in new learnings.

Christine was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, but moved to Victoria in ’94 to attend UVIC and earn an MA in Psychology. As the Executive Director at 1UP Victoria Single Parent Resource Centre, she spends her down-time with her husband and son, cooking and reading.

Lorena Lennox

Lorena Lennox

Erika went to UVIC in 2008. She then worked as Project Coordinator for the University of Alberta’s Social Support & Research Program. She currently works in Quebec as a Youth Trainer at Club de canoe-kayak VIKING. On the side, she writes a personal blog about daily life.

After attending University in the States, Lorena moved to Vancouver Island to start a clothing company and residential real estate company. She completed a diploma in Business Admin at UVIC, a certification in Management Designation and her CCIM. 

Linda Nicoll

Kevin O'Brien

As a graduate of Lakehead University (Bachelor of Business Admin, Marketing), Linda started her career at Confederation College in ’95. She transitioned to UVIC, first as Business Program Advisor, to her current position of Manager or Student & Alumni Programs.

Kevin studied his BA in History at Trent University. Coming to Victoria, he sought adventure and started playing with a local band, where he drove their participation in benefits and social causes. Working with the Cool Aid Society, he helps to house those in need.

Ben Robertson

Sabrina Studney

During his time in the CLDP program, Ben was completing his Diploma in Accounting at Camosun College. He has worked at the CRA, KPMG Canada and is currently at the Office of the Auditor General (BC) as a Senior Audit Associate.

Sabrina holds a Bachelor of Social Work (University of Calgary). She began her career as a Program Coordinator & Counsellor. Moving to Victoria in 2012, she was a Youth & Family Counselor at the Boys and Girls Club. She is now executive director of the UVIC Student Society.

Brian Tebo

Meghan Thornloe

In 2007, Brian attended UVIC after moving from Salmon Arm. He studied psychology with a special interest in counseling & interpersonal relationships. He worked as a community support worker and later as coordinator, at Integra Support Services. He is now Executive Director of Victoria Community Resources Society.


Although born in Victoria, Meghan has lived in Vancouver, Calgary, and Ottawa. She has worked as Manager of Strategy Initiatives at the B.C. Gaming Policy & Enforcement Branch. Her education consists of degrees in Justice, Public Admin, and training in Mediation & Negotiation.

Sophie Wood

Derek Yeo

Victoria has been home to Sophie for 30+ years. With a BFA and a Diploma in Public Relations (UVIC), she is a graphic designer in the music & book publishing industries. Since 2008, she has been working at CRD.


Derek has been a support worker for people with developmental disabilities for 11+ years. His interest sprouted from assisting a childhood friend with autism. He received a Diploma in Criminal Justice (Camosun) and volunteers as a Reserve Constable. 


Leanna Young


Leanna graduated from UVIC with a B.Sc (Geography) in ’97. In 2003 she obtained her Project Management Professional Designation (PMP), leading to her role as Project Manager at BC Ferries in the internal Audit department for 10+ years.
