Sandra Richardson, CEO, Victoria Foundation

Alex Campbell is the co-founder, chairman emeritus and former president and CEO of Thrifty Foods. In 2007, Alex sold Thrifty Foods to Sobeys; however, his philanthropic and entrepreneurship here in Victoria awards him the lifetime achievement award in community leadership. 


As the CEO of the Victoria Foundation, Sandra Richardson exemplifies the Rotary values of truth, fairness, goodwill, friendship, and concern for others. Sandra provides quiet leadership to the community of Victoria and she is a source of guidance to the community as well.

Bernie Pauly, UVic

Michael Prince, UVic

Bernie Pauly is an Associate Professor in the UVIC’s School of Nursing and she is a scientist in the UVIC Center for Addictions Research of British Columbia. She is actively involved in community-based research and service that aims to promote health equity in policy and practice for populations impacted by homelessness and substance abuse.  


Michael Prince served as Associate Dean and Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Development. Michael has over 200 publications and has been an advisor to various governments; four Royal commissions; and many parliamentary committees.

Volunteer Victoria 

Jill Doucette, Common Energy Society

Serving the community since 1974, Volunteer Victoria is the central resource for voluntary action in Greater Victoria. The organization acts as a catalyst to help persons interested in volunteering respond to community needs. The organization is committed to promoting volunteering, recruiting and referring volunteers, building capacity for non-profits and providing leadership to the sector.  


Jill Doucette is recognized as a leader in business sustainability and innovation. Jill studied biology at UVIC and is the co-founder of the Common Energy Society, which focuses on making universities “Beyond Climate Neutral”. Jill recently founded Synergy, a green business consulting company that reduces the ecological footprint of local businesses.

Rick Anthony


Serving as a police officer for 27 years, Rick Anthony worked on varied assignments throughout his career. He served for nine months in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. He is a Detective in the Financial Crime section, he previously acted as the police liaison for downtown businesses.
