The epitome of a fundraising dynamo, the late Jane is a tireless volunteer who has raised millions of dollars for charity. In addition to being the winner of many awards, including being appointed to Honorary Citizen of Victoria and a recipient of the Order of British Columbia, Jane’s volunteerism, advocacy, and commitment have helped make Greater Victoria a thriving and vibrant community.   Roselynn Verwoord has a passion for education, equality, and social justice. She volunteered with the Victoria Native Friendship Centre and internationally with an NGO in India.

Dr. Sibylle Artz

Bonnie Leadbeater

A professor in the School of Child and Youth Care at UVIC, Dr. Arts’ research interests include the challenges of practice in Child and Youth Care, the constructive use of emotion in direct practice, violence and homelessness and youth violence.  Dr. Bonnie Leadbeater joined UVIC’s department of psychology in 1997 and through her leadership, she is working with UVIC researchers and community partners to improve the well-being of young people. She has taken initiative to develop the WITS program for the prevention of peer victimization in elementary schools.

Bob Skene has pursued an extensive career in the advanced technology sector, holding senior positions with Computel and VIATEC. Bob has served on numerous boards in Victoria including the Chamber of Commerce, Greater Victoria Hospital Society, and Royal Roads University.   As Executive Director of the Community Council and Quality of Life Challenge, Mabel’s passion for social justice and respect for all individuals has been the catalyst for shared decision making and multi-sectoral cooperation as the way to tackle the complex social and economic challenges in our region.
