Jim Treliving: he’s known for his role on CBC’s Dragon’s Den and his sound, savvy business decisions. What you might not know is how this former Mountie has built his career – and a business empire – by making decisions about work with his heart, about money with his head, and about people with his gut. Jim is now the co-owner (with George Melville) of Boston Pizza International along with Mr. Lube and a diverse menu of real estate and sports franchising interests.
Leadership Victoria is thrilled to bring Jim Treliving to Victoria, to speak about values-based thinking and partnership, the hallmarks of his business career. Jim will also share how his early life lessons from his father, Ted Treliving, shaped his approach to life: “success is measured by taking in the big picture: you look at the health and happiness of your family and friends and what you’re contributing to your community.” Treliving and Melville created the Boston Pizza Charitable Foundation, which has raised and donated more than $20 million to charities in communities across Canada and around the world.
University of Victoria, through the Gustavson School of Business, is pleased to partner with Leadership Victoria in presenting this event.
Leadership Victoria Society is a non-profit organization that develops, supports and celebrates leaders who are passionately engaged in making Greater Victoria a vibrant, healthy community. Funds are being raised to support the operation of the Community Leadership Development Program as well as the creation of a future Social Innovation Leadership program.
